Hijjawi Faculty Students Achieve Advanced Positions in the Arab Olympiad for AI
With generous support from the Hijjawi Foundation, nine students from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology and two students from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences at Yarmouk University participated in the second edition of the Arab Olympiad for Artificial Intelligence. The event was organized by the Arab Society for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence in cooperation with the “STEAM Center,” which specializes in robotics, AI training, and the learning curve.
Yarmouk University competed in this Olympiad with five teams from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, one team from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences, and a joint team consisting of students from both faculties.
Mala Mansour, a graduate of the Electronics Engineering Department at the Hijjawi Faculty, jointly achieved first place in the Algorithms and Mathematics track with Saad Al-Taamari from the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science. Meanwhile, students Yara Shalabi and Etab Obaidat from the Computer Engineering Department at the Hijjawi Faculty secured second place in the programming track.
Sameh Sukkar from the Department of Computer Engineering won third place, while Qusai Mashreqi from the Department of Computer Engineering and Faris Al-Shamali, a graduate of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, both won third place as well, repeating in the same track.
In the embedded systems track, Nouran Al-Saqr from the Department of Communications Engineering and Sameh Sukkar from the Department of Computer Engineering achieved third place. Additionally, Hassan Abu Saris from the Department of Computer Engineering and Afnan Al-Saqr from the Department of Communications Engineering won fourth place in the computer vision track.
