Hijjawi Faculty Shines: The Robotics Team Secures First Place in the Robot-Sumo Programming Category

Yarmouk University achieved first place among Jordanian universities in the 21st National Sumo Robot Competition – Best Programming Category, through its Robotics Team comprising students from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology and the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science.

The team delivered an outstanding performance in programming, innovation, and practical implementation, earning them the top position in this competition hosted by Applied Science University.

The winning team consists of Sara Al-Badr, Ibrahim Rababa’a, Mohammad Anaqrah, and Majd Bdour, supervised by Dr. Shadi Al-Laboun from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology.

Prof. Awad Al-Zaben, Dean of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, expressed his pride in this accomplishment, highlighting the consistent excellence of Yarmouk University students in tackling challenges and excelling in technical and innovative fields. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to nurturing student creativity and supporting them in reaching distinguished levels in engineering and technology.

He also commended the academic supervision and high-level performance demonstrated by the team throughout all stages of the competition. Additionally, he extended his appreciation to the hijjawi Foundation Career Development Center for its continuous support, which plays a vital role in enabling students to participate in activities and competitions that enhance their practical skills and better prepare them for the labor market.
