As part of its ongoing efforts to support students of the Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering Technology and encourage them to pursue valuable practical experiences, the Hijjawi Foundation supported Hamza Al-Zoubi, a Civil Engineering student, during his three-month field training at Dar Al-Handasah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during the second semester of the current academic year.
The experience provided Hamza with an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the engineering work environment, benefit from the expertise of a specialized team, and learn about the working practices followed by engineering firms and major projects.
The training focused on Infrastructure, where Hamza worked as part of the engineering supervision team. He participated in monitoring contractors’ work on-site and ensuring that it was carried out in accordance with the project’s approved specifications, standards, and technical requirements. His responsibilities included supervising the execution of deep piles, monitoring large-scale concrete pouring operations involving more than 3,500 cubic meters of concrete, and participating in the inspection and approval of reinforcement steel works to ensure compliance with the approved drawings and technical specifications. The experience also included infrastructure works related to facilities and internal roads, including Taxiways, as well as GSE Tunnels.
Reflecting on his experience, Hamza Al-Zoubi describes the training period as a valuable opportunity that allowed him to learn from experienced engineers and gain insight into the company’s working methods, while also developing a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of a supervision engineer and their role in monitoring the various stages of project execution on-site.
Hamza adds that the training enabled him to expand his knowledge of infrastructure and gain a deeper understanding of engineering work on-site, from monitoring construction activities to verifying the quality and compliance of the works with the required technical standards. He emphasizes that the three-month experience was an important addition to his knowledge and skills and gave him a clearer perspective on the professional life that awaits him after graduation.
