Students from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University participated in the Amman Arab University Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition 2026, which is considered one of the largest student events in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence in the region.

The team included Wael Saleem, Ammar Al-Haj, and Ibrahim Al-Lahawneh, under the supervision of Dr. Shifa Tawalbeh.

The team competed in the “Practical Robot Track,” where they presented an innovative project involving the design and development of a smart assistant robot for elderly people. The robot is capable of monitoring general health conditions such as heart rate and oxygen levels, in addition to providing mobility assistance at home and sending emergency alerts when needed.

The competition witnessed a highly competitive atmosphere, with nearly 31 teams qualifying for the final stage in this track, reflecting the strength of the participating projects and the high level of competition among teams.

The team’s participation was a valuable experience that provided an opportunity to showcase their project and exchange experiences with many talented student teams from different universities.

The team also received support from the Hijjawi Foundation, which contributed to further developing the project and completing its readiness for the competition, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to supporting student talents and encouraging innovation and creativity among youth.
