Yarmouk wins the 'Best Design' and 'Best Programming' awards at the 4th National Sumo Robotics Championship 2025

Yarmouk University, through the Hijjawi Faculty of Engineering Technology, won the “Best Design” and “Best Programming” awards at the 4th National SUMO Robotics Contest 2025, organized by Al-Hussein Technical University with the participation of 230 teams from various Jordanian universities.

The Hijjawi Faculty participated with five teams, two of which reached the podium, winning first place in two main categories. The Best Design award was won by Majdi Al-Manaseer from the Department of Electronics Engineering, while the Best Programming award went to the faculty’s robotics team, consisting of Mohammad Al-Zumot (Electronics Engineering), Raneem Yaseen (Electronics Engineering), Ibrahim Al-Majli (Computer Engineering), Majd Bdoor (Data Science & AI / Faculty of IT and Computer Science), Sara Al-Badr (Computer Engineering / Internet of Things), Hiba Barghouth (Electronics Engineering), Namareq Al-Bsharat (Biomedical Systems Engineering), Maysa Al-Hamad (Biomedical Systems Engineering), and Mohammad Anaqreh (Biomedical Systems Engineering).

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohammad Al-Zubaidi, affirmed that this achievement reflects the high level of the students in design and programming and strengthens the faculty’s position as a leading center for innovation and technology in Jordan.

He emphasized the university’s support for its students and its commitment to providing an excellent educational and research environment, while also thanking the Hijjawi Foundation for supporting this valuable student participation.

It is worth noting that Dr. Zaid Bataineh, supervisor of the faculty’s robotics team, and Dr. Shadi Al-Laboun from the Department of Electronics Engineering, provided academic supervision for the students in this competition.
