Born in Nablus in 1931, Mr. Hijjawi firmly believed in the power of education and economic empowerment as a path to peace and progress —prioritizing human development over armed struggle. Following his success in business, he dedicated much of his wealth to advancing vocational and technical education, laying the foundation for sustainable human capital development in the region.
Today, the Hijjawi Foundation is headquartered in Amman, Jordan, where it oversees a range of initiatives that bridge academia and industry. All institutional programs adhere to international procurement and governance standards, including those set by the World Bank.
The Foundation’s core operations are privately funded by the Hijjawi family, while its projects are co-financed by a distinguished group of regional and international partners, including:
• The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development
• The Saudi Fund for Development
• The Islamic Development Bank
• The OPEC Fund for International Development
• The Welfare Association
• The German Government, represented by KfW and GIZ
Rooted in ethical values, transparency, and measurable impact, the Hijjawi Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to foster inclusive, future-ready education across the Arab world.
